Words are important

Words are a communication necessity. Without them, we’d be in a heap of trouble.

Lately though, some words have worn out their welcome such as COVID, pandemic, social distancing, unprecedented and uncertain times. In other words, are you done with coronavirus conversations? We just might have a conversation “game” changer for you. First, a little back story.

To find new conversation starters, we googled whatever words came to mind, a 2020 type of trivial pursuit prompted by an article about the number of google searches for banana bread. Latest count: 606 million.Seeking more originality, we used the google technique at TED.com and literally hit the jackpot with videos about words. Do you know how many talks have been presented on the subject? Take our word for it, more than you’d think.

It was tough choosing a video to feature that we thought delivered the most engaging new ideas for changing conversations from…well you know, those words we don’t want to talk about anymore.

Hands down, or thumbs up, we think one of TED’s most popular presenters will give you plenty to dialog about. His name is Rives—a poetic performance artist and storyteller who uses images, video, and technology to bring his words to life. After viewing his talk, “Reinventing the Encyclopedia Game,” we can’t wait to hear what you have to say, especially about the word, Chimborazo.

Thank goodness for words, which by the way has nearly 4.5 billion google searches!
