Is it thanksgiving day or ”daze?”

Thanksgiving day typically conjures up thoughts of delicious dinners with family and friends. It’s also a day that can stir up stories of kitchen calamities that eventually become funny in a “remember when” sort of way.

Our favorite is the husband who somehow managed to lock the turkey inside their oven after he inadvertently activated the self-cleaning oven. When all attempts failed to get the door open – googling and calling the manufacturer – the wife saved the day with steak and vegetables. The oven and turkey? They’re resting in peace at the junkyard.

Too bad the folks with a trapped turkey didn’t use bourbon in their turkey drippings like a man did in Chicago. Imagine guests’ reaction when the bourbon ignited and blew the oven door off its hinges. Being handy, he reattached the door, the turkey survived, and dinner was just slightly delayed.

Stuffing stories like this one are equally hilarious. A nurse left careful instructions for her husband to stuff the turkey while she was at work. When she couldn’t find the lime Jello cabbage salad…you guessed it! She scooped out the salad, made stove-top stuffing and everyone had a good laugh.

This Thanksgiving our wish for you and yours is to enjoy fabulous food and food for thought with a generous serving of laughter.
